In his address on the future of the Baltic Sea Region, Head of VASAB Secretariat, Mārtiņš Ulāns, emphasized several important aspects of shaping the future of the BSR:
- Role of VASAB Vision 2040 and VASAB Ministerial Tallinn Declaration on Spatial Resilience,
- Importance of close cooperation with partner organisations such as HELCOM and CBSS and a need to expand cooperation networks further,
- Support for young people engagement both through professional networks and collaborative and creative events such as VASAB Young Planners’ Summer School which recently was held in Gdansk, Poland. This event served as a great example of the capabilities of young people to create valuable ideas how to cope with pressing spatial planning challenges in BSR – resilience, climate change, connectivity and effective use of space,
- Ability of working together cross-sectoral and across all governance levels and ability to adapt.
Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference is an annual event which brings together representatives of national and regional parliaments and parliamentary organisations from the Baltic Sea region as well as other relevant BSR organisations and partners.
