About event

EUSBSR Policy Area Spatial Planning, Interreg BSR project platform “Baltic PlaNet” together with Policy Areas Energy and Secure are organizing a session “Towards a Climate-Resilient Baltic Sea Region” within the EUSBSR Annual Forum (29-30 October 2025, Sopot, Poland).

Climate change has and will continue having immense consequences on people’s lives and on territories. This session during the EUSBSR Annual Forum aims to promote collaborative, cross-sectoral climate adaptation across the Baltic Sea Region, fostering a more climate-resilient macro-region through knowledge exchange, practical tools, and innovative planning approaches. It brings together leading experts and initiatives to address how municipalities can integrate climate risk and adaptation into local planning and decision-making. Featuring insights from the Baltic PlaNet project platform as well as other Interreg BSR projects, that tackle climate change mitigation, the session will explore solutions for coastal planning, disaster risk reduction, and energy transition.

The EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) Annual Forum is one of the largest pan-Baltic cooperation events in the Baltic Sea Region, which has been held since 2009. It plays an essential role in advancing the strategy’s goals by bringing together stakeholders from across the region to collaborate on addressing common challenges and supporting the implementation of the EUSBSR’s objectives.

This year the Annual Forum will take place on 29-30 October 2025 in Sopot, Poland, and it will address the crucial question: What actions are needed to build stability and a prosperous future for us all and the generations to come, across geopolitical, economic, social and environmental dimensions? With a dynamic programme of high-level plenaries, panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities, the forum will encourage collaboration on strategies in the Baltic Sea Region to tackle the challenges of stability and sustainability in changing times.
