VASAB Vision 2040 at the Meeting of Directors General Responsible for Territorial Cohesion
About event
On 24 April 2025, Directors General responsible for Territorial Cohesion from across Europe will gather in Warsaw for a meeting organized as part of the Polish presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The discussion during the meeting will focus on territorial cohesion-related issues in the context of a new architecture of policies post-2027 and their territorial dimension as a mechanism to ensure better coordination.
The topic of territorial resilience addressing EU challenges in security, defense, and the triple transition will be explored, including:
- presentations and discussion on findings from the ESPON TERRA RES study which underscores the significance of territorial exaptive resilience and the OECD perspective on territorial resilience;
- VASAB Vision 2040, examining how the whole-of-government, all-hazards logic is integrated into strategic spatial planning and how it strengthens spatial resilience in the Baltic Sea Region and beyond;
- a vision for territorial competitiveness in Peripheral Maritime Regions presented by CPMR.
Additionally, the meeting will reflect on lessons learned from the Territorial Agenda 2030 Pilot Actions, particularly the Regulatory Territorial Impact Assessment (R(T)IA), assessing how regulations affect different territories.
The Meeting of Directors General responsible for Territorial Cohesion will take place back-to-back with the meeting on Directors General for Urban Matters.
