The VASAB Committee on Spatial Planning and Development of the Baltic Sea Region (VASAB CSPD/BSR) is chaired by Estonia from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025.

We invite you and anyone working with the coastal planning and development issues in the countries of the Baltic Sea Region to participate in the survey. This includes competent professionals (of any governance level - local, regional or national) working on policy making, spatial planning, and research for terrestrial and marine areas, as well as those addressing land-sea interactions within one or across various sectors. We would greatly appreciate your participation as well as forwarding this survey to your colleagues or partners to whom it would be relevant.

eMSP NBSR project provided a platform for marine spatial planners and other experts to collaboratively advance MSP practice. It addressed urgent and emerging MSP topics through a community of practice-based approach that enabled joint learning across professions and across the North Sea and Baltic Sea areas.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Convention on the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Baltic Sea Area aka the Helsinki Convention, Latvia, who’s currently holding the Chairmanship of Helsinki Commission (HELCOM), will host a celebration on 25 April 2024 in Riga. The event will be preceded by a Ministerial Meeting of the Contracting Parties in the morning of the same day.
