Denmark takes over VASAB Chairmanship

The VASAB Committee on Spatial Planning and Development of the Baltic Sea Region (VASAB CSPD/BSR) was chaired by Denmark from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020. Denmark held the chairmanship of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) during the same period.

In the light of the reform process in CBSS, the Danish chairmanship of VASAB CSPD/BSR generally prioritised focus and efficiency in the work of VASAB and addressed exchange of knowledge and best practises on concrete challenges related to common spatial planning issues.

Ms Gitte Mondrup, Special Adviser of the Danish Business Authority which is part of the Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, chaired the VASAB CSPD/BSR meetings assisted by Mrs Berit Ipsen Hansen, Special Adviser of the Danish Business Authority from 1 July 2019 until 30 November 2019. Ms Gitte Mondrup has a Master’s Degree in Political Science and has served as the Danish member of VASAB CSPD/BSR during the previous Presidency 2018-2019.

Mrs. Mathilde Caspersen, spatial planner in the Danish Business Authority which is part of the Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs chaired the VASAB CSPD/BSR meetings assisted by Mrs. Berit Ipsen Hansen, Special Advisor of the Danish Business Authority from 1 December 2019 until 30 June 2020. Mrs. Mathilde Caspersen has a Master’s Degree in Sustainability Science. In the Danish Business Authority she works with the Planning Act, rural and sustainable planning.

Denmark took over the chairmanship from Latvia. The next chairing country after Denmark is Lithuania from 2020-2021.
