New ESPON project
On 9 February the ESPON European and Macro-regional Territorial Monitoring Tool project kicked-off in Brussels. The aim of this ESPON activity is to develop a practical and operational tool to continuously observe the development trends and patterns taking place in Europe and its macro-regions, including the Baltic Sea Region. The tool should help the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region to monitor its objectives and activities.
This two-year project will be carried out by a consortium of MCRIT (Barcelona), Metis (Vienna) and Hypertech (Athens). Former VASAB Chairman Jacek Szlachta is included in the pool of experts as well. The tool will be built inter alia on BSR-TeMo project initiated by VASAB; and VASAB has been appointed by the EUSBSR Nacional Coordinators as a representative of the Baltic Sea Region to the project’s Steering Committee. It is planned to organize the first stakeholder workshop of the project during the EUSBSR Annual Forum, on 5 June 2018 in Tallinn.
