VASAB Secretariat Joins European MSP Week 2024 in Marseille

The VASAB Secretariat will actively participate in European MSP Week 2024, held from 21-24 October in Marseille. The event brings together Maritime Spatial Planning experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to reflect on a decade of the EU MSP Directive and to outline the future of integrated maritime planning.

On 21 October, the Meeting of the Member States Expert Group on MSP will provide an update on MSP developments across Europe. This gathering highlights the progress made by Member States in developing and implementing MSP policies, addressing regional cooperation, and managing cross-border challenges.

On 22 October, “A Decade of European MSP – Stakeholder conference” will explore the evolving landscape of maritime planning. Participants will share lessons learned, discuss current challenges, and focus on future priorities. Critical themes include the importance of stakeholder engagement, the strengthening of regional cooperation, and the role of innovative technologies in advancing MSP practices. The two-day final conference of the MSP-GREEN and REGINA-MSP projects, “Planning Our European Seas: Regions and Countries for a Marine Green Deal” will take place on 23-24 October. This conference will present the outcomes of these projects, which aim to enhance MSP’s role in achieving sustainable blue economies. VASAB, as an associate partner of MSP-GREEN, will take part in the final session, discussing the role of regional seas in driving progress in MSP.
